“Man does not live on bread alone
but on every word
that comes from the mouth of the Lord.”
- Deuteronomy 8:3 (NIV)

Many of us have heard that verse before and know how it applies to our faith in God. In today’s hectic times, it is easy to get distracted from remembering this simple truth each day. We need God to guide us each day in all we do. In caring for our children, loving our spouses, interacting with others, before we begin our day of work… whatever it is that you may do each day, you need God first. Let us not forget that following God also means that we prayerfully wait on Him to guide us as we live our lives each day. We need to start our days with prayer and make spending time in His Word a priority to you each day.

Far too often I have made the mistake of trying to get everything else done for the day and spending time reading my Bible late at night. What usually happens is that I fall asleep and do not spend the quality time soaking in God’s words that I need. Don’t make my mistake! Try to spend time with the Lord and His Word every morning before the “hectic-ness” of the day pulls you away.

We should trust Him to lead us in all that we do and trust that He will help us act and serve Him in the way that He. When we trust Him for everything in our lives, even the small things, He will give us the “food” we need so that you may live in His ways as He guides our steps.

Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for always being there and always guiding me when we seek your will. Help me to remember to seek You and Your Word in every aspect of my life. Help me also to make time with you my number one priority, not just something I squeeze in when time permits. Help me to trust You as you show me the way in my journey of life.

In Jesus’ Name,
Amen
