Can you remember the first book you ever read? The first book I ever remember reading was “Me and The Weirdos.” Words are very powerful. Those words create images, images of fairytale land, the maiden princess looking or her prince, and far way castles. But book also can become our children’s friends. A book is the window that our child sees and experiences different places and different ways of living. Children begin to learn what is make believe and what is true in life. There are so many benefits of reading to your children that I could write an mile long post just on this topic.
There is nothing more precious then sitting down and reading a story with your child. The tone and sound of your voice can even soothe a baby. Reseacher has also said that reading to your child while in womb helps your child understand and learn better. There is no gift better then that to give to your child.
Reading is the fundamentals to helping our children understand life. Reading takes our children to places that are unimaginable to them. It lets them become part of a story and form a bond with the characters in the book. Reading lets our children get into a boat and take a adventure around the world and be home in time for bed. Reading all starts with you. Imagine you are able to set the path where the road is paved with imagination and endless possibilities.
It is never too late or too early to begin reading to your children. Start a tradition with your children. Cuddle up in bed with them and read them a story before they go to bed. Grab some books from the library or go to Amazon.com and pick out some great children’s books. Just think of how much ahead your child will be once they start school.
Reading level for our children today are below par. But we can change that. It’s not to late to sit down and give your children the opportunity to meet the world through words.
