I often wish I could shelter Haylee from the world. I wish I could keep all those mean little kids that teaser her away from her. But as many of you already know that is not possible. We can not shelter our children because if we do then it makes their life that much harder.
From the day Haylee was born I have never hidden her hand or been ashamed of it. I taught Haylee there is no reason to be ashamed of your hand. She has always been straight forward with people. I have taught her if someone is staring that is because they don’t understand things or maybe they have just never seen a little hand before. Haylee is very open about her hand and if she see’s someone staring she will tell them that God made her that way because he had big plans for her.
I believe that by teaching Haylee this from a very young age that has made her the strong girl she is. Don’t get me wrong we do get those kids who tease her. And there are days when Haylee comes home sad because someone made fun of her little hand. But we always sit down and talk about it and we talk about God and how God had made her that way and God had big plans for her. And of course we go and get some ice cream because ice cream always makes the sad bug run away.
Have you found any special tips or trick on how to deal with teasing?
