10 Fingers? Perfect?

I was watching a move the other night and I will not say which one but a child was born and they said something along the lines of 10 fingers 10 toes, the child was perfect.  And this is not the first time I have heard this phrase. Oh I was mad.  So what are they saying that 10 fingers and 10 toes makes a child perfect?  And in who’s book?

All children are perfect.  Our children are created by God…..  Perfecting to one person may not be perfection to another person.  My child is perfect and she has 5 fingers, My friend Nan’s child is Perfect and her son has Autism, My friend Becki’s child is perfect hand he has Autism, My friend Dana’s child is perfect hand she was born with growth problems, All the children over at 5 minutes for Special Needs are perfect.  In my eyes and In God’s eyes all children are perfect.

The Media has a great way of twisting things around.  No wonder people stare at our kids.  Because they are not like the children on TV.  Get to know our kids and you will see they are perfect!

Riding With Five Fingers

Haylee and DadLearning to ride a bike is a pretty simple thing.  Our kids start with training wheels and do awesome.  Then the time comes that they want to be big and ride their big with out training wheels so we nervously take those training wheels off and teach our children to ride their bike without training wheels.  They fall a few times, they struggle, they fall a few more times but before you know it they are riding down the driveway all by themselves with no training wheels.

We were in that situation yesterday but as you know Haylee only has a big right hand and a little left hand that has no fingers.  But Haylee is no different then you or or and Haylee can do anything you or I can do but with one hand.

So Haylee told Dad, “I want to ride my bike without training wheels!”  Her and Dad took the bike into the garage and took the training wheels off.  And Dad began teaching her to ride her bike.  It took a little while because she is able to grip with her right hand but her left hand just kind of sits on top of the handle and helps steer.  We noticed she leaned to left a bit and asked her why. She Can Do Anything

“Duh Mom because my big hand weighs more then my little hand.”  Wow never thought of that but it is so true.  By the end of they evening Haylee was riding her bike with only 5 fingers.  She is able to start and stop herself, turn around in the drive way and pedal until her little heart is content.

My child is just as normal as any other child and as long as we treat them normal then they don’t act any different then anyone else.  Can’t is a bad word in our house. :) We can do anything you can do but with 5 fingers instead of 10.

I wanted to share this Free Book with All our friends Memorial Day Family Fun!

I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Welcome!

Being a new mom puts enough stress on a woman but then to be told that your child has a deformation it sometimes takes a woman over the edge.  It seems that once you hear deformation you hear nothing more that the Doctor said. You are in total shock thinking, “What did I do wrong?”  “Is this all my fault?”  You are wondering will my child live a normal life.  Will my child be teased all through school?

You are not alone thinking that way.  There are so many of us out there that have thought that exact same way.  We have layed in that hospital bed and cried quietly to ourselves.    But, we don’t want you to feel that way any longer.

Little Hands Big Hearts is a Group of Moms that have been in that same situation as you.  We have wondered those same thoughts.  We are here to support you and tell you that everything will be just fine. Your child is going to grow up and have a normal life.
